About

I am Rachel Brookhart, a senior at Olathe Northwest High School. I am involved in the Ecommunication program as well as the National honor society. Outside of school I do competitive cheer for the 360 Allstars. I also have a part time job at a retail store called Abercrombie Kids. Some personal interests of mine are fashion, music and reading. After high school I'm planning on attending the University of Arkansas, where I will major in communications or nursing.

I started out in the Ecommunication strand when I was a freshman, trying out all the different strands: Video (Convergence Journalism, Sports Information Director, and Entertainment), Graphic Design, Web Design and Animation. Then my sophomore year we got the chance to pick the two strands that we were most interested in. From there, the next year, my junior year, we chose the strand that we had the most interest in and spent the last two years expanding on that; for me it was convergence jounalism.

In Convergence Journalism I've learned a number of things like; editing videos, working with sound, setting up interviews and running an actual news show. The main focus of this strand is preparing our schools weekly news show, ONW Now. We spend most of our time each week making videos to be featured on the show. The videos we produce range anywhere from an event going on at our school to more entertaining segments. I've learned a lot of valunble things from my time in the Ecommunication program and hope that they will benefit me in the future.
